The Family Health Center on Virginia is a patient-centered clinic serving children, families, and individuals in McKinney and across North Texas. The Family Health Center, established through a partnership led by the North Texas Family Health Foundation, connects residents with the resources they need to be healthy.

The temporary clinic first opened in 2018 in existing medical offices and quickly outgrew its physical space. A newly constructed 25,000 square-foot community health center opened its doors in 2021. The Family Health Center provides primary medical, dental and behavioral healthcare serving local-area individuals, including seniors, families, and children. In addition to medical and dental services, the center provides space for on-site community programs that link patients to key resources.

 

Clinical care is provided through a partnership with Community Healthcare Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHCs). FQHCs provide comprehensive primary care to medically underserved communities and welcome Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and most insurances. FQHCs are considered to be a measure of excellence in primary care infrastructure. This model of community-based primary care helps to reduce the need for more expensive care, like emergency department visits and helps to improve health outcomes.  Learn more about FQHCs here.

Since opening in 2019, the volume of unique patients and clinic visits has steadily increased – by a year over year average of 32 percent for unique patients and 30 percent for clinic visits. The clinic served nearly 8,000 unique patients and provided over 37,000 clinic visits in 2023.
